Having asked Glasgow post-rockers Mogwai to remix his album track Miracle for As If To Nothing (2002), Craig Armstrong returned the favour for their 2006 album Mr Beast (Matador) – providing beautifully restrained keyboards on the penultimate track I Chose Horses. Typically for football-mad Mogwai, the song title is a reference to erstwhile Scotland goalkeeper Alan Rough, who was heard in a radio interview saying that he chose horses over the pitfalls of football management.
Also appearing on this track is vocalist Tetsuya Fukagawa from cult Japanese hardcore band Envy.
